Will we see Chris Hughton sign any more players before the deadline?

Chris Hughton & Mike Ashley

Hughton - Disappointed over missing out on Moses and rightly so

News is rife that Wigan Athletic has completed the signing of promising English talent Victor Moses from Crystal Palace for a fee of £2.5m. The Nigerian born was heavily linked with a move for Moses, however the Magpies were unwilling to match the administrators asking price of £2.5m which could turn out to be a great bargain in the future. Every Toon fan across the globe is disappointed to be beaten by Wigan and Mike Ashley more than anyone we’d expect, especially when his enemy in Dave Whelan. What’s worse for the Newcastle owner, is that BBC will be airing a ‘Watchdog’ like program, investigating Mike Ashley’s factories in Laos that produce the ultra cheap Donnay and Lonsdale sportswear.

I for one would’ve loved to have seen Victor Moses pull on the Black & White of Newcastle United but it seems as if the idea of joining Wigan and using them as a stepping stone to bigger clubs and great things, have played a huge incentive in getting Moses to the DW Stadium.

The burning question now is whether we will see a striker arrive on Tyneside before the window closes. I always looked forward to the end of the transfer window in anticipation of getting one more signing and indeed to see the panic buys by often, newly promoted clubs.

However, it won’t surprise me if nothing happens one our side of the fence, although we’ve done pretty well to keep the best players in our squad as well as adding a decent winger in Wayne Routledge to it.

Mike Williamson seems to be a very sturdy centre-back although it’s far too early to tell, however, I’m confident he’ll even nod a few goals in for Newcastle in the near future.

So what do you guys think? Will Chris Hughton venture into the transfer market before times runs out? Everyone knows we need a speedy striker.

Comments welcome :)

Why would any decent striker come to us?
The typre of football is unatractive and doesnt appeal to anyone with an ounce of skill or creativity.

“a strong fast forward who has some finesse”… so drogba? Rooney? Torres?

Just fast will do for me…then again we got lovenkrands who i think really adds another dimension. At the moment our strikers arent bad, they just aren’t the free scoring strikers.

Leon Best or Maynard will make me happy. Someone said Dorrans…got a spare 5 million?

Or we could pull something out the bag and get an unknown entity such as huselkepp.

Or most likely we will get nout.

    Girly Mag…

We haven’t won ‘handsomely, with panache’ since Hughton has been in charge, and long before that. I think supporters are well within their rights to grumble.

I would bet if anyone….it will be a loan. James Vaughan from everton anyone? There wont be an exciting acquisition under this ownership, though on the other hand, we do have much more signings this time than previous January window, after the clear out of 30million pounds worth.

We WILL sign Leon Best today. He is up here having a medical; its already been talked about on sky sports news this morning. This lad is a very talented young striker; is quick, strong in the air and won’t cost a lot because he is out of contract at the end of the season. I’ve watched him a couple of times this year as i know a chap who plays for coventry and in the right team he could be abit special (one particular goal against portsmouth this season showed the ability he has in his locker)…

I’m from norway, and i’ve seen huseklepp and skjelbred play alot of times.. would love to see them play for newcastle. Skjelbred already told newcastles norwegian fanclub that the only thing missing in his carrier is playing for newcastle!

Hopefully Best will be a success at The Toon, he has all the atributes Big strong pacey, good in the air, with a nose for goal.
With the right supporting cast, could be quite prolific, much happier to see him arrive than our so called first choice Beckford.
Just unfortunate not to also sign Moses a guarranteed success, could have made a deadly duo,ah well!
