Middlesbrough match a huge one for Newcastle

Taylor - Lets hope hes on target again this year

Taylor - Lets hope he's on target again this year

It wasn’t a good year for North-East football last year for sure, with us and Middlesbrough taking the drop to the Coca Cola Championship and Sunderland just about surviving the final few pressurizing games. In a game we needed to win and I’m not talking about Aston Villa and that day but rather of the game at home to Middlesbrough where we got what many people thought [Read more →]

Boro game do or die for Newcastle United FC

Shearer - Hoping for early goal tomorrow

Shearer - Hoping for early goal tomorrow

Tomorrow is the night for the biggest game in Newcastle’s long long history. indeed history will be made at 10pm on Monday night when either the Toon or Boro could leapfrog Hull and reside outside the relegation zone for at least another week. Then again if both team happen to draw than their fate will more than likely destined for the Coca Cola Championship and that is a place where no team want to go, especially teams of Newcastle and Middlesbrough’s size. It’s been some time-line for Newcastle fans to endure but hopefully, just hopefully we’ll be a Premier League team even at the end of all this.

When Keegan resumed control, all was merry, he even turned Newcastle around on the pitch, saving them from relegation and it seemed we were in for an exciting season under the ‘Messiah’s’ control. How much things have changed. Keegan resigned, Ashley tried to sell, Joe Kinnear takes charge, has serious health problems and finally, Alan Shearer takes control at his beloved club in a bid to save them from relegation. The story between Keegan and Shearer is near identical, Keegan took sometime to get his first win, and Shearer is yet to collect a full 3 points.

We hope Shearer can manipulate Keegan’s story and save us from relegation, Monday is certainly a place to start. We’ve missed every other good opportunity, surely the lads can’t mess it up again, in front of 50,000 roaring Geordies? 10pm Monday will provide us with our answer.

Alan Shearer thinks Mark Viduka will be main man v Middlesbrough

Viduka - Would be suiting if he scored a couple on Monday

Viduka - Would be suiting if he scored a couple on Monday

How suiting it would be should Mark Viduka score the winner or at least play a major role on Monday as Newcastle face their lesser rivals in a bid to avoid relegation. Viduka hasn’t been the most consistent performer this season with very little performances but since his comeback against Tottenham, he has looked quiet decent indeed. There is no doubt that Viduka can score goals as well as use his best skill, holding up play to boost Newcastle’s chances come Monday. Viduka scored in his first game against Boro last season and Shearer thinks he’s well able to do it again.

Shearer said :

“Big performances are going to be needed by everyone, not just Mark, but he has played for Middlesbrough, and he has scored against them. He’ll know what it means, and we’ll be looking for a big performance from him.

“He’s got experience, which is what’s going to be needed on Monday evening, because of the occasion.”

“We’ve got to try to get people nearer to him when he’s actually winning headers, or when the ball’s coming into him.

“We’ve got to get people nearer to him to run off him, because we know when we get the ball to his feet, most times it’ll stick.”

Shearer has said that we need to score first against Boro and how true that is, it’s been the story of the season. We have never really gone in front in many matches this season however in the ones we have, we didn’t tend to lose too many. Monday is D-Day, the day for heroes if there are any.

7 points and we’re safe – Habib Beye

Beye - Believes that Toon can survive

Beye - Believes that Toon can survive

Prominent wingback and makeshift center back Habib Beye believes Newcastle United can remain a Premier League club if they manage 7 points from their last three games. That’s the equivalent of 2 wins and a draw, Fulham and Boro spring to mind as possible wins with a draw away to Villa next priority. Whether we can really get 2 wins in succession is beyond me or anyone else who follows football but you’d have to doubt it. However the ever optimistic Habib Beye, who is a fans favorite believe that 7 points can be their lucky number.

Beye said

“We know what we need to do.

“I think we need to get seven points to stay in the Premier League.

“We can’t afford to lose any more – we just need three points on Monday.”

“He said the game’s gone – we can’t do anything about it.

“We need to focus on the game against Boro – it will be the most important game for everybody in their lives.

“We need to work, and we need to stay focused on the game.

“We play on Monday against Boro, so we have had one week to work, and to beat them.

“Nobody thought before the game we could get something in Liverpool, because they are going for the title, but when you come to this place (Anfield), you want to enjoy the game and try to get something.

“I think the first goal was offside, but they are a really good team, and showed their quality. They had more quality than us – that’s it.

“It’s hard to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool.

“We have three games left now, and I think everybody knows what we need to stay in the Premier League.”

Indeed this is probably the most important Tyne-Tee match ever and could well decide the faith of either team, perhaps it could decide both fates if a draw is the end result, somehow I think there might just be some goals in the tie. I certainly hope so, and hope for all 3 points on Monday night.
