Coloccini on target as Toon top table
Coloccini - With goal archtect Ryan Taylor
A bullet header from Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini sent the mighty Magpies back to top spot, in the Welsh capital. Colo, who got his head to a looping Ryan Taylor cross celebrated the goal like a real goalscorer too and enjoyed every moment of it. It is Fabricio's first goal for the club but hopefully not his last as he showed to day that as well as heading, he's not that bad at defending either, keeping Michael Chopra and Jay Boothroyd at bay for 90 minutes. Unfortunately for Alan Smith however, he received two yellow cards and was sent down the tunnel on 92 mins, he will be missed in centre midfield.
Today proved that Newcastle can play away from home and win, even without their leading goal scorer Shola Ameobi and playmaker Jonas Gutierréz. Cardiff City won't be far off the promotion spots come May you'll see and for us to get three points in their own back garden is something to be proud of.
Chris Hughton's successful term continues and we regained top spot again. Although my prediction was totally accurate at 1-1, I was right to say that we scored once and by right, we should've conceded a penalty as well when Steven Taylor handballed in his own penalty box.
However Newcastle were the far better team for long periods of the game and we deserved our win. Nile Ranger was again a nuisance for Cardiff defenders and won a few frees which settled down the run of play a little.
All round good performance from the lads, if we manage to keep it up, and secure a few signings in the next few weeks, and indeed in January, you never know what'll happen. And did I hear something about a takeover? 😀
Comments welcome 🙂
