Give Marlon a chance to be a Magpie

### Harewood - Needs to be give time to adjust

Marlon Harewood’s great start in a Newcastle United shirt by scoring the equaliser against QPR seems like a distant memory now as the physical forward is beginning to irritate the Toon faithful. In the game against Doncaster Marlon didn’t play a blinder by any means but labelling him as a ‘donkey’ is really justified as of yet. Arriving from Aston Villa on loan, the  forward was brought here to score goals but it looks as if they’ll be few and far between. However, saying that, we can’t get on his back just yet, give him a chance. He can score goals and we certainly hope he will.

There’s no doubt that the lad has been a bit awkward on the ball so far but it’s also known that he can score goals, and he has done this, at Premier League level. Confidence is a huge issue too, and it’s pretty clear that Marlon isn’t brimming with self-esteem just yet.

All I’m saying is to give the man a chance. I know there’s plenty of fans out there that aren’t jumping on his back just yet, but to those who are, remember, he’s only on loan and I very much doubt that he’ll sign permanently.

Hopefully he’ll reward us with a brace against Sheffield United in a four nil win. 😀

Comments welcome 🙂

Sorry...For me he is exactly the wrong type of player for newcastle united. Ive seen him in the home games against QPR (as a sub) and then starting against Bristol City & Doncaster. On top of that his start against Forrest was televised. The lad is a million miles behind Young Nile Ranger and other than his goal against QPR has been completely ineffective! He doesnt chase down defenders like Nile or Carroll. He has missed good chances (a sitter for me in the opening minutes agianst Bristol city)...How much time do we give him? Is 3 substitue appearances and three starts not enough to prove that he isnt up to task? the championship is purely and simply a results business for us this season. The facts show that we have won one in 5. Harewood has started 3 of those games and added nothing. Ranger deserves a run of three games coming up to show us what he had already began to show at the beginning of the season. I do not believe in booing players at St. James (...ok ive done it a couple of times when Geremi has sluggishly waddled of the pitch after having been missing for his entirety of his happening to be on it....) but surely the fans can see that starting harewood is not in the best intersts of the team and results. In fact the only times he's actually looked ok was in his sub appearances aginst ipswich and qpr. Let's use him from the bench if need be...but as a starter?????? Absolutely not.

completely agree mate. We call ourselves the greatest supporters and yet we throw abuse at someone, who to be fair, hadn't done much wrong. Fair enough he's not exactly prolific for us but howay lads, bit harsh.

saturdays booing i think was a combination. harewood hadnt looked good enough or even interested from the start. also it was clear a change needed to made much earlier than it was, and equaly clear that the change needed to be harewood for ranger. maybe it is a bit harsh to boo the lad but if hughton thinks hes the best we have maybe the booing needs to directed there. to start carroll and harewood was clearly not the right decision and the fact hughton did this (again) simply confrims that he is not the man for the job full time.

Thanks Kevin, Indeed I agree when you say that young Nile Ranger deserves every chance but honestly I think that we rely on him too much. I mean he's changed quite a few games now but we need more fire-power than this lad. I think Marlon could do a job for us just yet. Doocey.

Harewood and Carroll do not work together but I'm not entirely sure why Harewood is getting all the flak. Carroll was awfull until his goal on Saturday and it could quite easily have been him that should have been subbed. Nile Ranger came on and the game changed but I'm not convinced that was purely down to Harewood being taken off. I'd still like to see Harewood and Ranger given a chance up front because I honstly believe that Carroll offers very little and is so slow at times it's unbelievable I'd say on paper Harewood has the most goals in him out of all our strikers but playing him alongside Carroll and booing him isn't going to do anybody any favours

so are our other strikers mate.......The fact that Ameobi is still top scorer out of all of them after missing half the season says it all
