Pancrate is quite the journeyman

Words by Kevin Doocey on .

Although we are known for signing rather under-performing wingers, reports are surfacing today that Chris is looking to trial former PSG live wire Fabrice Pancrete. Most of you saying who I’m sure. However, Pancrete has been around for some while now and has played in many of the main European leagues, except for The Premier League. Pancrete is a winger by trade and although I must say I haven’t seen him play, his reports are quite good. Saying that, if he was that good, surely he wouldn’t be a free agent searching for a new club?

He’s 6’1 and 29 years of age. He’s played for Louhans-Cuiseaux, Guingamp, Le Mans, Paris Saint-Germain,  Real Betis (loan), Sochaux (loan) and had trials with Sheffield United. If you don’t call him well travelled then I don’t know what to call him!

Hughton is rumoured to be interested in signing him as we are indeed short of pace and wingers. However, as he is a free agent this could again signal that Mike Ashley doesn’t intend on handing Chris some cash to spend in Jan, as we first thought.

Then again you what happens when you assume and you’re wrong. Let’s hope he does back Hughton, as it’s seriously needed.

Would you like to see the French ‘wizard’ line out in St.James’ Park?

Comments welcome 🙂

he must be very bad. even sheffield utd didn't offer him a contract. unless we're so desperate, I don't think he's good enuf for us.

NUFC That's roughly 1 goal every 9 games. I'd say it's a little below average for a winger.

Little below average is it ? (goals for a winger) Would love to see our only legitimate winger score that amount, what is it one in close to fifty game average so far.

I think "nufc" have read this at Wikipedia. I think Hughton know what he are doing, we must trust him! He are good enough if we get him a contract! Rock on Hughton!:-D

Hope ur charity bet was more fruitful and more entertaining than the England game :) As for Pancrate, I've no idea. Just hope whoever is talent spotting and looking for new players at SJP they know what they are doing.... any idea who's job it is now or is it just Hughton? Nice to see Oba getting a couple o' goals to help Nigeria through to the world cup finals, another team to follow if Oba's playing as far as I'm concerned and a shame players of his talent had to move cos of our rubbish leadership and ultimate relegation.
