Would Taylor leave Newcastle United?

Words by Kevin Doocey on .

Reports are emerging of late that David Moyes is looking yet again, at Newcastle’s prominent centre back, Steven Taylor. Moyes, who was present at the Preston North End game on Monday has been after Taylor for many a season now if reports are to believed. Now it seems, with Moyes huge injury problems (sound familiar?) is looking to bolster his squad, and especially his defence. That’s all good and well, but the real question remains, will Stevie Taylor himself leave the club, or indeed be allowed to? Personally I don’t think Mike would have any problem in accepting a suitable bid for the Newcastle born defender.

Some reports say that it was Fabricio Coloccini that David Moyes was compiling a report on but somehow, I find that very hard to believe. It’s no the first time Taylor’s been linked to Everton and I’m sure it won’t be the last either.

What do you think? Would Taylor opt to leave Newcastle? He’s already said earlier this year that it broke his heart to think he might be forced out of the club he supported as a boy and loves, however, as you know, footballer’s feelings often change, and to the sound of money.

Saying that I personally think he won’t leave for Everton, even if they do make a bid and it’s accepted. Who’s the say Mike will even consider it as well? With his club on top of the Championship entering Christmas and things seemingly sorted behind closed doors, what else could the CB want?

Comments welcome 🙂

nope, he's even said before that he doesn't want to leave and found the rumours about him going to everton in the summer upsetting, iirc. if there's one player out there who we know bleeds black and white, its tayls, no matter what the rags want us to think.

No he won't. I think the papers, as usual, are adding 2+2 and getting 5. Moyes is ex PNE manager and still lives in the area; he still gets to as many of their games as he can. He is also close friends with Irvine too. Everton are strapped for cash and heavily in debt so I canna see him having much money to spend in Jan window.

There have been better clubs than Everton who have shown interest in Taylor over time. He has been very upfront in voicing his preference to stay with his boyhood club, here in the Toon. Whether he has changed his mind or MA sees $$$$ we can only guess. Hopefully it`s the former of the two, as he is developing into a fine defender, who can be dangerous on set plays, being decent in the air. Would you as a defender want to come up against both he and Carroll, plus Nolan (all big and decent in the air) on set pieces?

I don't think that STeve Taylor will want to leave but it may be a case of fat tw*t & lamearse shoving him out of the dooor for a few million pounds. I don't think they really care about the club or the fans

I dont think its down to Taylor any more. Its Ashley, so I fear the worse 4.5 Mill and we get Sol Cambell. Got to say I believe young Kadar is coming on, although that ,means Simpson will be heading back to Manc Utd. So Out - Taylor, Simpson and that KidnooneIamafootballer back to the orginal clubs In - Campell Equals Ashley happy saving £10 k a week and 4.5 millon for the casino. and 42000 fans even more fuming than Cherly Cole after Ashley returns after a night out with the Chelsea players with a hickie and hotel room keys in his pocket. No diffrence really - both loyal Geordie - who need to dump the cockney twat !!!!

Why would he want to leave if he helps us back into the EPL and has PL games again next season.... I'm sure there's still a few years left on his contract so he can't really be forced out and as said Everton are not exactly rolling in the money. I also believe Simpson will stay at Newcastle (signed in January) Basically paper talk, no more imo.

I agree with GeordieFootSoldier Moyes was only there to watch the game as he likes it not because of any potential deal. Everton never have money to spend in January so Moyes certainly won't be buying him
