Can we expect any Toon transfers this January?

Words by Kevin Doocey on .

### Pato - Perhaps just a little unrealistic?

OK, we might not attract Alexandre Pato to St.James’ Park but we certainly do hope that new faces arrive on Tyneside this January. I know a lot of you’ll will immediately play down our chances of signing anyone good permanently you just never know, we might be surprised this Christmas period, although I wouldn’t get too excited. Reports emerged today that Ashley could hand Chris Hughton a possible £6m transfer kitty, and that Adam Hammill is on Hughton’s wish-list. I really don’t know what’s more believable, £6m budget or signing Adam Hammill!

Hughton has yet to decide on Marlon Harewood, but honestly, the majority of you who commented on yesterdays article were in favour on the ‘Beast’ staying on Tyneside.

The days of being linked with the Miguel Veloso’s and Luka Modric’s are gone and gone for some time we think. If that means the days of huge wage bills for treatment table players are also gone, then I’ll be more than happy.

Besides that, I think that Chris could bring in a couple of faces, on loan if we’re lucky. Danny Simpson looks set to move permanently but whether in January, or the Summer, we’ll just have to see.

Somehow I can’t see Gonzalo Higuaín arriving any time soon!

Comments welcome 🙂

pato? higuain? you are asking alot there docey. lol~ having a couple of bodies in would even be great and 'miraculous' at this time(i'm not sure why?) but if theres someone coming in, I can probably see the likes of stephen darby, mancienne or even wilshire coming in, but no, please, not another 'owen-luque' type. it seems like newcastle work better with 'low-profiled' players than the 'glowing stars' one. =)

hhhmmmm.... Do we go all out to ensure promotion and bring in multiple loans and perminant deals; making sure we don't stew in this league more than one season and almost cirtainly lose stars like Enrique and Jonas. Leaving us with panic buy championship players on the wage bill for years that will sit tight and struggle in the prem. Or do we do a deal for Simpson and keep most of this 'supposed' (I know) £6M for the summer when we will get Nicky Butt and Geremi's £120,000 a week off the wage bill and then really strengthen with the better players we could attract. Taking for granted that we will get promoted. Its a gamble.

DJG...i think with the team we have got, we can do a couple of shrewd loan signings (wilshere :P) to cover us for an injury crisis and possibly Killgallon as we are short at the back, but for once i hope we dont sign too many players. Without taking anything for granted we have opened up a gap at the top without really playing good football and WBA cant seem to hold a run together. 6 million on championship quality players would be a waste, unless they are young and would be able to move up a division. But i would like to see money to towards survival next season, not promotion this season. Although there are a few hidden gems, look at Roger Johnson at Birmingham. All this obviously is assuming that we don't loose anybody!!!!!

Well....For a start anyone who thinks we should not sign players in january incase they might not cut it in the PL are simply idiot's! 1. We are not promoted yet. We are a long way off it infact! 2. Our main and only priority is promotion. Not staying in the PL next year; planning for that scenario starts in April/May if we can finish in the top two. 3. Anyone who can come in now and contritbute to that one goal will be welcomed in open arms by both CH and the other newcastle players. 4. Securing PL status again at the end of the season will bring in vast amounts of cash (approx 50 million); so a 6 million investment now is a must to ensure we get back to the PL. CH will know that any players which we bring in will have to be; (a) better than the ones we have already got or (b) players who can add something different to the current playing staff. With that in mind; in the Jedi's opinion i feel the force is strong with any of the players listed below... Transfer fee's Simpson (First and foremost let's secure young Danny on a permanent deal) Beckford (2-3 million with his contract running down? Leed smay accept such a bid rather than lose him for nothing) Joe Ledley (2-3million again as his contract expires in the summer; creative player whom i think could make the step up to premoership level) Kilgallon (1.5 million for a player agai tipped to step up in fashion of Phil Jagielka) Cleverly (2million - currently on loan at watford from Man Utd) Johnson (4 million ??? Again his contract is expering and why not go for him? Promotion at this stage looks a pretty good bet so i'm sure boro will look to cash in on him so stracah can strengthen with his own players) Sam (1-2 million - This kid is very quick and skillfull. Has been a revaltion for charlton this year; albeit in league 1. Again his contract is expiring so is worth a punt for that sort of money in my humble opinion) Victor Moses (2-3 million with a sell on clause/further fee's on appearances etc. This young man looks like he will be the real deal. Full of pace and skill. still only 18 and is flying with the super eagles. Gewt him snapped up Chris) Loans.... Wilshire (already been discussed and would be a master stroke by Hughton. The lad has it all and will be a star of world football for years. Some newcastle fans seem abit snobbish in this area; as if we are to "big" a club to be taking other clubs young players on loan) Wellbeck/Macheda (Both may be beyond reach; however is sir alex is willing to let either go out for 3-4 months and gain some regular first team football then we should be first in line) I feel we may need need to bring another defender in on loan; if we do not sign Kilgallon permanently. Now the jedi is off to a galaxy far far away....

n/ jedi Yeah all sounds good but where`s the money coming from ? Kilgallon, who says we can sign him with PL clubs apparently interested, same goes for all the youngsters you mentioned. Be lucky to sign two decent players during this window, that probably includes Simpson, who hopefully we can extend his loan untill the end of the season. And four mill. for Johnson, no way,not with big clubs looking at him. It`s going to be an interesting window, should say a lot as to what Ashleys intentions are concerning the club.
