Will Hughton make approach for Kilgallon?

Kilgallon - Moving clubs in January if he can

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has confirmed today that his prominent centre-back Matthew Kilgallon, will leave the club in the January transfer period. Kilgallon, who is highly rated in both the Championship & the Premier League will look for a new club after no agreement could be made on a new deal at Bramall Lane. Chris Hughton earlier this year expressed an interest in the former Leeds CB, but the likes of Hull City have also been linked to making an offer for the lad.

Speaking today, Blackwell said :

‘It is a fait accompli that ‘Killa’ will be going,’

‘He spoke to (chief executive) Trevor Birch, but we can’t reach an agreement.

‘At the moment, this club is not in a position to offer outrageous terms to anyone. We can’t afford to pay the terms we used to.’

We must ask the question was Kilgallon asking for massive wages or simply pricing himself out of a stay at Sheffield. As I’ve said before, and will say again, the last thing we need are more overpaid players who are getting the rough side of 25.

Saying that, if Chris does indeed make an offer and has it accepted, I wouldn’t mind seeing Kilgallon arriving, although I’m sure Hull & The Premier League (Wages) might appeal just a little more to him.

Either way, we do need new faces but whether Kilgallon will be one of them, we’ll just have to see.

Comments welcome 🙂

He Kilgallon and his agent are in a position of power where he could go for a not too high fee and decent personal demands or wait untill summer and go for free upping the personal terms. It could become a bidding war if he goes @ Christmas, with PL clubs competing with the Toon. Either way there`s no guarrantees for the Toon.

Agreed Chuck. I'd be very surprised if Kilgallon didn't opt to play in the Premier League if he gets the chance.

Hey Edward, I can't see Coloccini being sold just yet, at least until he proves himself. Tyne Time is up and running for a few months now, so compared to others, it quite old :D

To be honest, if we get promoted I'd expect Coloccini to be out the door if Chris/ whoever is in charge by then, can do so. Then again, he might prove a cornerstone in our Premier League survival should we get up :D (Wishful thinking)

Kilgallon will have a dilema come January as its the lower prem clubs getting interested as well as NUFC. Several are fizzy-pop possibilities, while NUFC are looking good for the prem...

Why would we sell Coloccini now? He has been part of the reason everything is going so well for us. Team harmony is at it's highest right now, and selling players like Collo would damage that. He, Enrique and Gutierezz have formed a brothers like bond and we need to vitally keep them happy. When promoted, we should then look at maybe selling Gutierezz and Coloccini as they have proven not to be Premier League quality. Until then, keep the things as they are and get a couple more players in on loan till the end of season. January: Buy Danny Simpson from Manchester United. Extend loan deal for Marlon Harewood from Aston Villa till end of season. Buy Matt Kilgallon from Sheffield United. Look at getting in Tom Cleverley on loan from Manchester United from Watford till the end of the year. Get Nicky Shorey on loan from Aston Villa for cover for The Bull. --------------------------------------- At the end of season, look at buying Tom Cleverley from Manchester United. Also if Boro stay down (which looks likely) look to buy Adam Johnson. Cleverley and Johnson are young wingers that could perform in the Premier League. We need some good wingers and these two would fit in with our budget and make us a better team in the Premier League. Send Harewood and Shorey back to Villa. If West Ham go down (which looks likely) look to but Carlton Cole to have as a strike partner with Andy Carroll. HARPER SIMPSON TAYLOR KILGALLON ENRIQUE CLEVERLEY SMITH NOLAN JOHNSON CARROLL COLE I think that team is good enough for safety in the Premier League while we get in more funds and hopefully a new owner with more ambition and generosity. Two young attack minded wingers to supply a front two who will cause havoc with defences. Also the best performed defence (who thought we would ever say that after last season)with more time together looks good.
