Newcastle put 3 past Preston as solid home form continues

Taylor - Second goal in succession and long may our winning run continue

Is it just me or is Ryan Taylor developing a habit of scoring goals of late, and in the dying minutes of games?! After Peter Lovenkrands fortuitous opener, Kevin Nolan’s 12th of the season the sub came off the bench to score again, and a decent goal it was. Leon Best too played his part, again falling over and leaving it to the former Wigan Athletic man. Either way, it was a solid win against Preston North End and although we didn’t play to our potential, we’re still racking upo the goals at St.James’ Park, and that’s always an encouraging sign.

With Nottingham Forest also winning against our neighbours Middlesbrough, it sees them leapfrog West Bromich Albion for the time being and also sees us open a little gap at the top. If we’re lucky, Bristol City might cause Roberto di Matteo’s men a few problems in the near encounter.

That’s how the Coca Cola Championship top three lines up as of now and as hoped, Newcastle delivered maximum points in their two home games. A 4-1 win at home to Coventry and today, an nice 3-0 victory over Preston North End.

The longer we can continue this run, the better. Next on our travels is a trip to Vicarage Road where we’ll meet Mike Williamson’s former club, Watford. After a 2-0 victory at home to them earlier in the season, thanks to Fabrice Pancrate finishing it off, we’ll be hoping the lads can take full advantage of the rub of the green we’re getting, and indeed get another 3 points.

Keep this form up lads, and come May, we might be just promoted to the best league in the world, the Premier League.

Comments welcome 🙂
