Hughton targets Hutton as promotion party is prepared

### Hutton - Supposedly has held talks with Newcastle already

Before I start about the Hutton story, need I bring up the whole thing about West Brom scoring late since the start of the season? Another goal, in the 96th minute, denying Watford a huge victory. What’s more, I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve scored in the last five minutes, it’s certainly double figures. Anyway, the latest news surrounding Newcastle besides the big matter of a Premier League spot being officially secured tonight, is of our reported interest in Tottenham’s Alan Hutton.

Speaking after Spurs loss to Sunderland, when on the matter of Hutton, Redknapp commented :

“I think you will find Newcastle are in for him as well,” “Someone has told me he has been talking to Newcastle. He is not supposed to be, but he has, you know. We will only let him go if we get an awful lot of money for him, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham.”

Now, we’d hardly expect Chris Hughton to be speaking to him behind the clubs back but I could certainly see Colin Caldewood holding a few talks with the Scottish fullback.

With Danny Simpson at the club, a lot are questioning whether the former Manchester United RB is capable of sticking it out in the Premier League but I’m sure he’ll get a chance to prove himself. Hutton would be a far more experienced than Simpson but whether he’d be any good is another thing. He certainly has talent and has been pretty decent for Sunderland of late, it’d be sweet if we beat Steve Bruce’s side to the former Rangers man 😀

It’s good to see Hughton is making plans for our targets already and I don’t expect there’ll be any last-day signings, or indeed panic signings like his predecessors.

A win tonight and Hughton can put them plans into action. Premier League here we come.

Comments welcome 🙂

As a spurs fan I can say it's probably all about price. He's second choice at spurs because, although being great going forward, he's too weak defensively to defend behind Lennon but spurs will definately want to get at least half of the £8m he reportedly cost. If you think he's worth that then he's yours because if Potato headed Steve Bruce and 25 year spurs servant go for the same player...

As another Spurs fan I'd say you're more than welcome to him. He was great in Scottish football, but failed to perform in English football. That said, as Seb has mentioned, we paid a lot for him, and there's a good reason why we're one of the few clubs that run at a profit: we don't let players go on the cheap. I reckon between £4-5mil and he's yours.

If you want him it will cost around 6-8 million pounds but Sunderland will also bid so you haven't got a chance. Sunderland is a massive club going places and your a crap small club who aren't welcome in the PL. Hope you end bottom next season.

What does it matter what minute they scored in? It's called playing to the whistle. We fugged it up -- does scoring in the last five minutes somehow count less then? Anyway congrats, just hope we are not two divisions apart next season!

Re wba, How many soft pens have you had? What goes around comes around.

WallsendBaggie: ⏱ 05/04/2010

Yes Halfords mate, very true, I've watched Newcastle around 14 games this season, to say they have had a fair few soft penalties and a very good run of luck too, would be an understatement, tonights game was no exception, very soft penalty after Carrol was blatently shouldering Murphy in the back, seen by mr bias (Peter Beagrie) as "shoulder to shoulder". Sorry Geordie fans but the way some of your players go down like "sacks of spuds" after getting challenged is diabolical, especially as this season you have developed "stoke" syndrome, shove, pull, kick, barge people off the ball and then cry when it happens to you, Roman Bednars yellow card at St James is a prime example after he was brutalalised by Steven Taylor only for 40 odd thousand geordie boys saying he chopped Taylor, it was crazy, as Bednar was in possesion. Anyway, enough grumbling, congratulations on going up, we will be there next week too and I can look forward to getting to some more local games, come on borough lol.

Yest another Spurs fan here. Well done on promotion, Newcastle, especially to Chris Hughton, who got you lot playing attractive, pleasing football that deserved a reward. You belong in the Premier League, and welcome back!

Killy Mag: ⏱ 06/04/2010

Redknapp is up to his old Del Boy tricks again..trying to convince the stupid mackems they will need to spend more money to land Hutton. Doubt Newcastle will get involved in a bidding war for such an average player, altho apparently the player wants to come as he lives on the quayside (as do most of Sunderland's first team)
